 2016 NJUST Chinese Language Courses for International Students


1.Introduction

The School of International Education of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, with rich teaching experience, lightly qualified teachers, beautiful teaching environment, provides international students with Chinese language courses, including general Chinese language course, intensive Chinese language course and customized course programs, etc. A variety of activities and seminars will also be offered from time to time during their study to enrich students' campus life and to help students experience Chinese culture better. In addition, NJUST is an official site of HSK test (translated as Chinese Proficiency Test), which is a convenience for students to enter for the test.


2.Curriculums and fees


a)General Chinese language courses

When it comes to general Chinese language course, we take semester as a unit and recruit students every semester. Four different levels of courses are offered according to students' Chinese level.

A. Beginner Course: The initial level of beginners is expected to reach HSK 2 or HSK3

B. Intermediate Course: The initial level is equivalent to HSK- 2 or HSK3, and expected to reach HSK3 or HSK4

C. Intermediate Advanced Course: The initial level is equivalent to HSK4 and expected to reach HSK5

D. Advanced Course: The initial level is equivalent to HSK5 and expected to reach HSK6

The course length is one semester (about 17 weeks), with 25 class hours per week (except national holidays and school holidays). Small classes are adopted with no more than 20 students in each class. The main courses are as follows (e.g. Chinese curriculum of 2015 autumn semester):

b) Preparatory Intensive Chinese Language Course

One-year Chinese language intensive course is only for the September enrollment. The initial level of beginners is expected to reach HSK4, even to HSK 5 or HSK6. The course length is one year (about 34 weeks), with 37 class hours per week (except national holidays and school holidays). Small classes are adopted, with less than 20 students in each class. The main courses are as follows (e.g. Chinese curriculum of 2015 autumn semester):

An HSK Tutorial will be specifically set up in the preparatory Chinese language intensive courses to help students pass the relevant HSK level exams.

c) Customized course project

Groups(≥10 person) are welcome to enter for the Chinese language courses or learn customized Chinese language courses in accordance with their specific requirements, such as cultural courses (Calligraphy, Chinese musical instruments, etc.), vocational courses (Computer, Economics, etc.) and so on. Please contact us to discuss the details.


3. HSK Test

The HSK tests to be held at NJUST in 2016 are on March 20, April 16, May 21, June 12 and November 12.


4. Application

a) Apply online viahttp://admission.njust.edu.cn, fill in the application form and upload scanned materials correspondingly;

b) Print ‘NJUST Application Form for International Students’ online with hand-written signature and date;

c) Prepare the application materials as follows:

① Printed ‘NJUST Application Form for International Students’

② Copy of passport information page

③ Copy of the last diploma and official transcripts (in Chinese or in English, if not, notarize them into Chinese or English version)

④ School certificate and approved transfer letter (for students who are already enrolled as current university students in China)

⑤ Copy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (境外人员体检表(physical check form).doc) you shall fill out the form in English and keep the original

d) Please send the required materials to
